Hey, I'm the Bee!
Stuff about me.
While I think that my blog is better than having a commercial online journal, it always lacked a page with information about the author. Well, here it is. I think I'll try to keep adding to it, working in my viewpoints on important issues as I have time. For now, here's an overview:
My name is Brian Hawkins. Currently, I live by myself near the engineerng campus at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My major is mechanical engineering, which suits me well since I've always been interested in machinery and understanding the principles that govern the physical world. In August 2005, I will complete my bachelor's degree. I have accepted a job at Northrop Grumman Space Technology in Redondo Beach (LA area), California. August 22, 2005 will be my first day on the job.
Some other interesting stuff, which will likely be elaborated on at a later date: I was born on a Friday the Thirteenth. I grew up in Joliet, IL and later moved to nearby Shorewood. I attended Catholic schools K-9. I have over 150 credit hours at Joliet Junior College. I play guitar and had a garage band for a while. Roller coasters are the greatest mechanical invention, ever. Snowboarding is one of the few things that make cold weather tolerable. I am colorblind. I like photography, but my camera is broken. Storm chasing is exciting. Star gazing is captivating. Crop circles are exciting (where do they come from?). I like to ride motorcyles, but can't afford a cruiser of my own. Currently, I'm also without a car. Television is nearly worthless except for documentaries and home improvement shows. Lindy hop is fun. I like to build/fix things. Illinois is boring. Illini Navigators Rock! The outdoors are enjoyable, although my work keeps me indoors most of the time. Pets are way more trouble than they're worth. I'm probably borderline obsessive-compulsive. My art collection is heavy on art deco. Vintage stuff is great. Elegance is paramount. I love Jesus Christ!!!
